Can you briefly describe your background and the path that led you to your current position at Burgmann Packings?

I have 33 years of experience in Operations, Logistics, and Supply Chain across various companies. My career started in the food business, leading me to Pharma and eventually to helping SMEs establish lean supply chains. My experience with change management led me to my current role at Burgmann Packings, which was transitioning from a production company to a logistics hub.

What is your role at Burgmann Packings, and how does it contribute to the overall objectives and goals of the company?

As Managing Director of Ireland, my role has been a dynamic one, changing as the needs of the business evolved over the past five years. We've been consistently fortifying our position, investing in IT to bolster our logistics, streamlining operations, and managing overheads. This strategic focus has not only made our unit stronger but also contributed significantly to the overall strength and positioning of the group.

What's one significant way your role or responsibilities have evolved since you started at Burgmann Packings?

Alongside my key responsibility of guiding Burgmann Packings Ireland, my role has broadened to have an impact on a global scale. I have the privilege of participating in global projects and travelling to support, train, and help transform our sister companies, allowing me to extend my influence and experience beyond the Irish shores.

As a leader within the company, how do you foster creativity and innovation among your team members?

My approach to fostering creativity and innovation is rooted in building a supportive, open environment. Here, ideas and opinions aren't just tolerated but celebrated. I believe in the power of communication and ensure team members clearly understand our vision and their role in achieving it. Moreover, providing resources, development opportunities, and recognition helps ignite their creative potential, allowing them to take risks and contribute fresh, innovative ideas that drive the company forward.

The sealing industry, like many others, is undergoing significant changes and advancements. What innovations or trends do you see as most impactful for Burgmann Packings in the near future?

Several trends are shaping the sealing industry. The emergence of advanced materials and coatings improve durability and efficiency. Sustainability initiatives are leading to eco-friendly, recyclable sealing solutions. Additive manufacturing (3D Printing) enables rapid prototyping and customization. Finally, integration of artificial intelligence and big data analytics is enhancing productivity and decision-making processes. These trends present opportunities for us to stay competitive and cater to evolving customer needs.
